Brae Howard Photography

Brae is a talented photographer that shot Kendra & Alex's wedding, for which I made the cake and cupcakes. She was kind enough to pass along some shots that included the treats!

Turtle cupcakes!

These things are killing it. I swear I find a new favorite every month. My friend and aerial student Nyssa wanted to order a treat for her Mom, who loved turtle candies. We came up with this concoction - chocolate cake filled with caramel. The clincher for this is the frosting. I candied pecans and used them to top the 'cakes, along with finely chopping them up and adding them to that browned butter cream cheese frosting I love so much. Unreal.
Oh and some chocolate shavings and caramel on top too. of course.

Fall Baby Shower

One of my dear friends, Kelly, was arranging a baby shower for her cousin and wanted to include some fall themed cupcakes. They decided on pumpkin with browned butter cream cheese frosting and vanilla with spiced frosting - great choices! That browned butter frosting is my absolute favorite thing right now! I matched the green/blue/brown color scheme and Kelly made the acorns out of Hershey kisses and mini Nutter Butters (my sister originally saw this great idea on Pinterest - thank you!)

The Junior League of Philadelphia - Taste of Fall Event 2012

I was honored to be a part of the Taste of Fall Event this October which benefitted the Junior League's efforts to bring food education throughout the city. That handsome man above is Billy, my boyfriend, who happily stayed to represent Nutmeg when I had to leave for work. The event seemed to be a succes, both for the Junior League and Nutmeg! Not a cupcake was left in sight (we should have brought more) and many people had their first Nutmeg treat. Flavors included: Chocolate PB, Pumpkin Spice, Spiced Vanilla Bean and Double Chocolate - all in mini form! Angela from MainLineDish.com even included us in a great article about the day:

Milano Cake

Homemade vanilla pastry cream and Milano cookie crumbles between
four layers of vanilla cake frosted in chocolate buttercream.
Yum.
Happy Birthday Teresa & Ange! xoxo

Wedding Dress cookies

These cookies were made as favors for a Bridal shower. Each got a final touch of gold and were individually wrapped before they headed out to surprise Lisa!

Vanilla Beans take a dip.....

I was going to start soaking my vanilla beans in Bourbon, but then I remembered
how great this Snap liquor is and how seasonally appropriate it is! In went the beans!
Snap is made with the same flavors of a gingersnap - ginger, molasses, clove, nutmeg, etc.
If you are not familiar with Art In The Age's line of liquors, I suggest you check them out:

Happy Wedding Kendra & Alex!

I had the pleasure of baking for the wedding of two PSCA friends that are so very in love!
Both the wedding and "Groom's" (the blue ombre shark lil guy) cake were gluten-free chocolate almond cake with raspberry filling. Her cupcake choices were Raspberry Champagne, Lemon Vanilla, Mint Oreo and Red Velvet - all displayed on the lovely cupcake tower that my brother in law made for Nutmeg! It was a great night and an honor to be a part of it! Congrats you two! xoxoxo

Billy & Julie Wedding

I baked cupcakes for Billy & Julie's Wedding this past Saturday. They are a lovely
couple that found me through tasting a cupcake from the Sweet Spot cafe! The picked several flavors, including Chai, Maplenut and Lemon, and hopefully their guests enjoyed
them all. It was pleasure doing business with them and I wish them both the best!

AERIOS Success!

AERIOS, both the aerial show and selling of cupcakes, was a success!
Thank you to all the performers and all staff involved. There was a lot of hard work
and hours put in and it sure paid off. I was very proud with how the show came out.
I based the cupcake flavors off characters from the show:
Artemis: ginger cake filled with raspberry puree and topped with raspberry frosting
Icarus: vanilla cake topped with coconut cream frosting and toasted coconut
Eos: Lemon cake filled with lemon curd and topped with lemon frosting
Comedy/Tragedy: vanilla cake and frosting with chocolate chips
Hecate: Spicy chocolate cake and frosting
Special thanks to Kate for being such a fantastic cupcake seller!

Have you tried the new flavors yet?!

Some new chocolaty flavors have been taking over!
Chocolate Peanut Butter - chocolate cake filled with peanut butter and frosted with
a twist of both chocolate and PB cream cheese frostings
(and of course topped with a Reese's PB cup)
These are currently being sold at The Sweet Spot cafe in NoLibs.
Spicy Chocolate - chocolate cake and frosting spiked with cinnamon,
cayenne and chili powder. yikes.

Mini Happy Birthday Cakes

Hi All! I haven't updated in a little while, things have been very busy! Here are a few birthday cakes I have done for some lovely ladies. They are only 4" and 6" - perfect size! The 6"  usually can serve approximately 10 people and are full of layers.

highly suggest you get yourself some tickets and come out to the show on Saturday the 28th.
This is a very talented group and you will be certainly be impressed and entertained.

And as if that wasn't motivation enough to come out, I will also be selling cupcakes!
