New Flavor: Grapefruit Ginger

This new flavor is inspired by my very good friend Kelly who loves all things grapefruit!
Vanilla bean cake with grapefruit juice and zest and freshly grated ginger
Filled with homemade grapefruit ginger curd and topped with ginger cream cheese.
This is absolutely my favorite....for now.

The Great Root Beer Experiment: Round 1

I finally got around to trying out a batch of root beer cupcakes I've been dreaming up.
If you haven't tried root beer liquor (either Blackmaker or Root brand), you are totally missing out.
I used a good amount of the liquor in addition to root beer extract to get a good strong flavor in these lil guys.
I'm not sold on them yet and want to do a bit of tweaking to them but I think it was a good first try.
All my taste testers seemed to like them and have some good input (thanks guys!)
I'm thinking of topping them with vanilla bean whipped cream - like a root beer float!

Happy Birthday, you animal.

Congratulations Kendra & Alex!!!

So much love to K + A who threw a predictably hilarious and fun party this weekend to
celebrate the numerous wonderful things that are happening in their lives.
I can't wait to bake more gluten-free cakes for their "real" wedding in September.
In the meantime, Kendra will be blowing the minds of every Brazilian touring the country
with Cirque du Soleil. Gluten free chocolate cake is the food of champions!

Pirates eat cupcakes too!

It's been a busy week around here! Including chocolate and vanilla cupcakes
for Marco's party. Happy 5th Birthday!
